TOURISMUSSTARS 2026: Honouring Excellence in Austrian Gastronomy

Following the glamorous gala at Schönbrunn Palace, a festive reception was held at Vienna City Hall to mark the inaugural presentation of the “TOURISMUSSTARS.” This new national award recognises outstanding achievements across 16 categories within Austria’s tourism and leisure industry – ranging from gastronomy and hospitality to innovative initiatives and personalities.

We are very delighted that SHIKI Omakase was honoured at the first-ever “Tourismusstars” as “New Opening of the Year – Venue” – a new national award recognising outstanding quality, innovation, and hospitality in Austria. At the same time, our main restaurant SHIKI Japanese Cuisine was nominated as a finalist in the category “Host of the Year – Excellence in Gastronomy”, alongside some of the most renowned names in Austria’s restaurant scene.

During the event, awards were presented in categories including “Host of the Year – Excellence in Gastronomy” and “Hospitality,” as well as to other outstanding projects and regional winners. The reception highlighted the central importance of tourism for Austria’s economy, culture, and international reputation – particularly in the lead-up to the Eurovision Song Contest, which will once again bring global attention to Vienna.

The “TOURISMUSSTARS” place the diversity, innovative strength, and quality of the Austrian industry at centre stage, while also giving visibility to the people behind the businesses. At the same time, the award promotes young talent and recognises sustainable and forward-looking concepts.

The award also sets an important example through its social commitment, supporting initiatives such as LICHT INS DUNKEL and Pink Ribbon.
